What does it mean that the wood is FSC certified?

FSC stands for "Forest Stewardship Council®", and if a product is made from FSC-certified wood, you can buy it with a clear conscience.

FSC certification is your guarantee that the wood comes from an FSC forest. Here, no more wood is felled than the forest can reproduce. The people who work in an FSC forest are employed under decent conditions. This means that they get proper safety equipment, pay and that they are trained. In addition, wildlife is also protected.

FSC is an international non-profit labelling scheme for wood and paper. FSC is the only global wood labelling scheme that has broad support from green organisations such as WWF, Greenpeace and World Forests, social organisations and businesses worldwide.
